Lake McQueeney, Texas–July 2007

A lovely cottage with a view of Lake McQueeney was the gathering place for the Fourth Annual Lakehouse Weekend (week of Fourth of July) which actually has lengthened to a week for some of the participants…and we owe it all to Max, the Maltese that I keep whenever his family travels. Usually we have a cottage right on the lake, but as long as we have dock access, we’re happy weekenders.

Past participants have come from Houston, Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, and Orlando. I’ll share more of our antics later.

Comments from the past four summers:

“Would anyone like to play Apples to Apples?”

“Do you think we have enough food and beverages?”

“Did you use sound cooler management?”

“I can’t believe you forgot the martini shaker!”

“Who wants to go on the sunset boat ride?”

“Would all of you please sit down and listen to this Willie & Toby song?”

“Let me try one more time to get up on the skis!”

One of the Lakehouse Weekend participants told me that I forgot the most often heard comment:

“It doesn’t suck being here!”

I think all those quotes are Bill A’s, right?

Actually, what I meant to say was, “Yes, yes, that’s a nice story Joy. Now go and fix daddy another martini…” 8)
